2017 - Day 4 - new plan

Rain has passed. Wind died down. Caught one small striped bass. Picked up as much plastic as I can manage. About to push off.

New plan for the day: meet good friend John Coleman at the Coles Point marina and stay in cottage #2!

About my blog

I've loved fishing and being on the water since I can remember. In 2016, I started a voyage to paddle\fish\camp the Intracoastal Waterway from Alexandria,VA to Key West, a week at a time over many years. My kayak is named "the Fishhugger," hence the title for this blog.

In addition to testing my limits and having an amazing adventure, this journey has another purpose: to raise awareness about the problem of plastic pollution in our waterways and oceans.

This blog is to help me document the journey and share some of what I love and learn...and yes, I learn the most from mistakes -- about fishing, kayaking, camping, and life -- on my adventures.
